Artist Opportunities
The Center for the Arts – Gallery 194 invites Michigan artists to submit proposals for solo and multiple-person shows. We have 8-10 shows per year in a variety of mediums. Each show runs four to six weeks and features a "meet-the-artist", open house style reception. Gallery 194 provides all publicity, including press releases and postcard invitations to view the exhibit. Shows in the gallery are planned 1-2 years in advance.
We also have our Emerging Artist Hallway for up-and-coming artists.
- Show opportunities are available throughout the year.
- Artists ages 18+ years are welcome to apply at any stage of their career: Emerging to professional
- Current and past Gift Shop artists are eligible to apply
- Artists are encouraged to have work for sale. The Art Center retains a 30% commission on all sold artwork
- If working in jewelry or other small sculptural mediums, artists are encouraged to apply for a two-person show to offer wall space to a compatible artist, unless artists’ work bridges other mediums or the artist wishes to present a more process-based show
- Artists are encouraged to propose creative and non-traditional show proposals: The CFA embraces an interdisciplinary approach to the Arts
- Artists are encouraged to visit Gallery 194 on their own to see the space in-person
- If proposing a show that includes artwork yet to be completed, please include in-process images, sketches, and other items that will let the committee gain insight into the work

Call for Art Instructors and Class Proposals

About: The Center for the Arts is seeking art instructors and is accepting class proposal submissions for review. Mediums may include jewelry, drawing, painting, mosaics, and more. We offer flexible schedules, supplies, registration administration, and social media support. Our classes are scheduled up to four or so weeks in advance. Classes and workshops vary from single class sessions to one day a week for six or eight weeks, depending on class type and classroom availability.

The Center for the Arts accepts applications year-round for its Gallery 194 Gift Shop. Mediums may include jewelry, drawing, painting, mosaics, wood, glass, ceramic, fiber, and more.
